Vroom Vroom. . .
Overview:
I was really excited for this project. The objective was to create an animation in Adobe After Effects using a still illustration that I had created. I wanted to make the motion of my graphic smooth and as realistic as I could make it. I started over so many times on this project with different illustrations and animations, but I am happy with the final product
Sketches:
For my sketches, I made a storyboard. This way, I could imagine the movement of the car and make a frame by frame sketch of it. The sketching made it easier for me to figure out all of the different layers that I needed to make for the movement I was hoping to do. This process of sketching was really helpful before going into After Effects and creating movement; I was more confident after mapping it out.
Draft:
My first draft was a completely different illustration and animation, but the movements were too choppy and it looked very unnatural. In the end, I was unhappy with the whole thing, so I started over with a new idea. Going into the draft of the car, I was given feedback that my wheels were moving too slow, and that the clouds needed more movement in the sky.
Final:
I am very happy with the final product. This was my first time animating, and I feel it went well. I was able to make it look smooth and as realistic as I could. For the final, I made the rotation of the wheels faster, added more movement to the clouds, and decided to add some music and sound effects to make it more fun. Creating movement was new to me, but I learned a lot through this process.
